Mixing & Mastering at the Source Studio

We charge £175 Per Song, Up to 5 Revisions

A great recording deserves great production. Mixing is where your individual recordings are transformed into a balanced, exciting and emotional final track. Mastering is the final stage where the song's loudness, width, dynamics and punch are optimised for release. So the final song translates well across streaming services, headphones, car stereos and live venues.

1. Mixing

At The Source Studio, Mixing & Mastering Engineer Pete Marten works closely with artists to ensure every mix reflects their vision. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, we take the time to understand the style and emotion behind each song, helping it sound powerful while remaining true to the performance.

To help us quickly get where your coming from, we ask artists to send us Spotify Playlists of Reference Tracks to give us an idea where they want to go, sonically.

Our mixing process includes balancing instruments, EQ, compression, effects, automation, stereo imaging and vocal enhancement to create clarity, impact and depth without losing the character of the recording.

But most importantly, it includes you!

We send links to mixes back and forth via a WattsApp Group Chat and you give us your feedback until you have a final mix you are excited about and can't wait to share with the world! This gives you both the time and space to properly listen to you song/s and to have a much better chance to shaope your music than being given a mix at the end of a long recording day, when your ears are compressed and you arent really able to listen critically.

Whether you've recorded your music at The Source Studio or elsewhere, we can provide professional mixing services for artists throughout Exeter, Devon and beyond.

Mixing Includes

  • Vocal mixing
  • Drum editing
  • Guitar enhancement
  • Bass processing
  • Automation
  • Effects processing
  • Stereo imaging
  • Up to 5 Mix revisions
  • Streaming-ready mixes

Every mix is created with modern streaming platforms in mind while preserving the energy and personality of your music.

2. Mastering

Mastering is the final stage before your music is released to the world. It ensures your songs sound polished, consistent and ready for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, CD or vinyl.

At The Source Studio, mastering isn't about making tracks louder—it's about making them translate consistently across every listening environment. We carefully optimise tonal balance, dynamics and overall loudness while preserving the feel of your music.

Whether you're releasing a single, EP or full album, professional mastering provides the finishing touch that gives your music confidence and consistency.

Mastering Includes

  • Digital mastering
  • EP mastering
  • Album mastering
  • Streaming optimisation
  • Loudness optimisation
  • Stereo enhancement
  • Track sequencing
  • Final quality control

If you've invested time writing and recording your music, professional mastering helps ensure listeners hear it exactly as intended.
