Out Now - The Upper Hand's Debut EP!
Delighted to share that the Upper Hand's Debut EP - “The Upper Hand” was released on Friday 26th September.
It features 7 amazing songs, recorded at R&K Studios. We were just meant to record one song as part of their 2023 Battle of the Bands prize, but ended up having so much fun that we did 7!
Mixed and mastered by Lawrence Chaplin, the EP is a journey through the unique lens of a hard-working rock band that have given you their heart and soul in audio format!!
About the EP
The EP is the product of two years of hard work for the band. The EP itself contains the two singles Mistakes and Bottle of Pain alongside five new releases Josephine, Questions, Tempest, Fill The Space and Stargazer. It showcases all of the band's styles and musical nuances while also encapsulating the overall theme of moving forward.
“To me the EP is a benchmark of our band's work so far. It signifies our desire to live doing what we love and using it to express ourselves and push through all the challenges we have endured to be where we are. A general theme of most of the songs is about trying to move forward, and now this EP is finally out it feels like we have done just that and manifested our namesake ‘The Upper Hand’ into reality. What I love about it most is that it represents the start of us, a prologue made from some of the routes and roots that brought us together, and I hope it’s the start of so much more for us! Let’s grasp the upper hand while we can!”

Bottle of Pain Out Now!
“Bottle of Pain”, the 2nd of the 7 songs R&K Studios recorded for the Upper Hand, was released on Friday 25th July.
We originally agreed to record one song as their prize for winning the 2023 East Devon Battle of the Bands, but ended up doing 5, because we were having so much fun! Then we did another 2 a few weeks ago. these songs will make up their debut EP, due to be launched at the Exeter Phoenix on September 26th.
“Bottle of Pain” is the first song they ever wrote and was mixed & mastered by Lawrence Chaplin. Love working with this band and can't wait for you to hear it!
