In House Session Band

As well as recording bands, we can also p[ull together a session band made up of highly experienced players from our network. This can work really well for Solo artists who have not been able to put a band together or just want to record and release music.

Dave Knox, The Source Studio's in House Producer & Recording Engineer

Dave is our in house engineer and producer. His passion is helping artists sound amazing. He also guides emerging artists through their first uncertain steps to becoming a recording artist.

But he goes way beyond just recording them! He finds them gigs, gets them reviews, radio play and helps them to register their publishing. His tried and tested release plans have helped all of the artists he works with to exceed the all-important 1,000 streams on Spotify and many have achieved over 5,000 plays on their debut releases as well as being featured on BBC Introducing and playing Beautiful Days and Glastonbury festival.

He has been recording music since the early 1990s. He recorded Vodka Doll at Sean Cronin's Studio, the Kredo, Motorcyle Red Indian Gods, Captain Pugwash, The Collectiv and Selectiv.

More recently he has recorded three singles for the Kabins, an album for the Upper Hand, an album for Rameagle, one for his last band the Supermercados, 4 songs for No Ordinary Fish, 2 singles for Absent Minds, 2 4 track EPs for Leonard & the Zombies, a single for Vanity Proj3ct, 2 singles for Sekrement, a single for Combustion, one for Bloodhound.

Nick Hall, The Source Studio's Songwriter and Session Band Leader

Nick Hall is the Source Studio's owner, an amaziong songwriter and and leader of our in house session band. Nick is a guitarist, producer, and recording artist whose work spans psychedelic rock, world music, dub, folk, and experimental sound design. He excels at working out chords and structures for any song and helping artists acheive their creative vision.

Through projects including Dakar Audio Club, the Batch Gueye Band, and Rameagle, Hall has developed a distinctive production style combining atmospheric guitars, analogue textures, African rhythms, and immersive live energy. Signed to the So Let’s Talk label, his work has received international radio play alongside the release of two studio albums.

He has also contributed extensive session and production work with artists including Silverpyre, Kouatchou, Ruby May Spencer, Olwyn, Datura Roots Collective, and acclaimed folk songwriter Dave Wood, building a reputation for expressive guitar work and emotionally rich, cinematic recordings.
