Our Recording Studio Gear
Behringer X32
We use the full-size, 32-channel Behringer X32 for all of our studio recordings. featuring fantastic MIdas preamps Its just a great workhorse, the core of our studio recordings and massively flexible.
Although it comes with a dizzying amount of effects built in, we record straight into Logic Pro X, which removes all the processing and gives you nice, fat, raw recordings that are a joy to build your productions up from.
Rack of External Preamps
The preamps on audio interfaces are designed to be transparent and to not colour the sound.
As a result, external preamps can enhance sound quality by providing better amplification, more headroom, and unique sonic characteristics that built-in preamps may lack.
They are especially useful for achieving a professional sound in recordings, with rich harmonics to give depth and mean you can feel music rather than just listen to it!.
Our rack features Audient, Golden Age Pre 73s, Warm Audio, Joe Meek and Focusrites.
SSL 12 Audio Interface
Once we have guide tracks and 15-16 drum tracks recorded, we switch to this amazing 4 channel interface, which records in crystal-clear and highly detailed 32 bit.
SSL 12 gives us a combination of professional features and workflow in a portable desktop interface.
Schepps 73
We love this Neve-Inspired Classic 1073 Preamp and EQ emulation, created with Andrew Scheps
The 1073’s EQ and preamp by themselves embody excellence, but combining the two creates magic. The way the EQ processes the fat, warm, inviting preamp sound is the key to the 1073’s enduring success.
With precision analog modeling of the original’s behavior—tweaked to perfection by Grammy-winning mixing engineer Andrew Scheps (Adele, Metallica, Jay Z)—Scheps 73 keeps the legend alive.
